… Silence…
… Darkness…
The closest form of the infinity that one can feel as the cycle of death became a part of the Saiyan Monk after falling in battle at the hands of Liari at West City. The nothingness was eternal, the quiet embrace of the dark was encapsulating in all its majesty – the void felt the longest stretch of time, devoid of breathing, seeing, simply nothing. In a way it’s also both a fear, but also peace that nothing can come to harm to him again that the tranquillity of dying was the moment of reaching one’s afterlife. Yet, something strange had occurred to the Saiyan, even in death, that caused him to stir as the nothingness of Death sent him on his journey to the next dimension – a force and realm that he could no longer take account or ignore in the vast scope or grandeur to what was about to happen next in his stage. Callion couldn’t put it to words, but as there was nothing in the sheer infinite darkness; there was a flash of light before him and in doing so, Callion had awoken from he felt was a transition between one world and the next.
From awakening, he was surrounded by multiple thick grey cloud like mist that surrounded him in all directions that almost completely blocked his field of vision, but he only had to look down and see that he appeared to be standing on some kind of pavement? Yes, it appeared to be the case with a large white arrow pointing forward. What was going on or if the very aspect of him being dead was questionable at first, until he noticed the halo above his head – clear as day that he was indeed dead. Such a revelation was rather shocking to him to say the least and even now at this moment there was so many questions to ask and so little time. What happens to him now? Is he dead forever? Did he live a good life in order to ensure that those he was with were set on the straight and noble path? Will the planet earth be safe? Will Callion’s friends be safe? There were so many questions about those he cared for if they will be able to handle what was to come their way now that he was gone and their safety was more paramount even more than ever now that he was gone.
Still, there was no time for debate or even further contemplation. Deciding that the only thing he could do now was to keep heading forward, following the arrow sign beneath him on the pavement which revealed to him a most peculiar sight; a vast world filled with wonderous yellow clouds, vast long road that travelled up to what appeared to be a single, giant Estate building of Japanese origin. It was enormous, far larger than any building or temple Callion had seen so far, but that did not even come close to what else the Saiyan was witnessing before him. Infront of him were tiny little flames that bounced around and floated forward infront as well as behind him, and yet he was the only one to apparently have his original physical form with a Halo attached onto him. This was even more confusing than to what he was expecting of all things, and to make things even more confusing was that those that were in charge of keeping the line moving, as Callion was slowly walking in contrast to how these floating, white fireballs were moving in keeping the extremely long line moving forward were these unusual figures that looked strange and dressed smart.
From directly infront of the Saiyan he could see the unusual presence of these somewhat short but otherwise well kept ogre’s, adorned in formal working clothes. They appeared to be rather harmless individuals, with the variety of skin colours and ranging with their own respected work ethics in keeping order in the cosmos. One of them in particular was talking to the fiery souls that kept the line moving. “That’s it all everyone. Please keep the line moving in an orderly fashion and King Yemma will see to each and every one of your Afterlife destinations. Thank you very much.” The Ogre with the speaker phone spoke into the handheld device which echoed across the vast road, one which the Saiyan just had simply no other decision than to just keep following the road, making sure to take a good look of the world around him, the bizarre afterlife was nothing like he could’ve possibly anticipated in the slightest and he may even just have to call everything that he was ever talked about the otherworld into question and what did dying truly mean in this world of all things.
For instance, the Saiyan turned his head to the left and he saw what appeared to be an multiple hubs that were in actuality Airports, ferry’s that were designed to take souls regardless of who they were to the light of Heaven or the Darkness of Hell as their final resting place depending on what kind of life they had lived when they were alive. Perhaps the most unusual elements to seeing such airports in the afterlife of all things was how it was all… Rather advanced for such a concept. Nothing like the stories one could tell in a religious building or temple, but machines and forms of transport that was smack on exactly how an Earthling’s form of vehicle looks like, and the way the hostess and pilots were also exactly like those that work in those fields on Planet Earth. Everything was so strange and unusual, to even see such an aeroplane fly over his head and the fiery souls that were also in line was strange and bizarre in every sense of the word, though the Ogres that continued to naturally be good at keeping the line moving were acting as though it was everyday part of their life.
Looking over to his left, Callion witnessed what appeared to be some kind of Café of all things; a simple blue house with a palm tree to it’s right, that seemed to be welcome all manner of customers to serve food and drinks in it’s humble abode. Now that’s another question entirely to ask; since he was dead was there even a reason to eat? Can an individual just eat and drink constantly without ever feeling fullness? If that’s the case, then this really is a form of paradise. Well, not exactly in Heaven since this could technically count as some form of purgatory? Simple theological matters were best kept in the backseat for now. Regardless, since having the capability to fly, perhaps, now that he is dead, he could visit the café sometime and see what they have in store. After all, even a Saiyan such as him cannot say no to a good food. Still, it was wise to focus on the main task at hand and getting on forward in line, as he went past several bends, walking past the ogres that were keeping the line in check and even talking to a few of the souls around him.
If anything, it was rather fascinating to learn those who had died and in the way they passed on. Some of them lived their full lives to the letter and having passed away in their sleep, others were involved in more nefarious affairs or were innocently killed by those who had their hands bloodied, and of course, there were also souls that sadly passed away in the most comedic fashion that a few of them just couldn’t help but laugh outright. Callion, by himself, explained his own story of how he died, talking with the souls and a good amount of them were both saddened and amazed with the tale that it even got a few of the ogre’s to quickly identify if he was definitely the Saiyan, before deciding to send word back to the main estate. Apparently, this particular Saiyan managed to get the attention of the higher ups, which was a strange motion of the line moving even faster than normal, which apparently got a lot of the line moving quickly and the ogres a lot more frantic and running around in quite the comedic pace of all things.
“O-Ok people, that’s it. Move lively now! Our King is in a workaholic state right now! This is your chance to see what you have in store to go to either realm. Step lively now, King Yemma is a very busy Ogre!” One of the main, suit dressed ogres spoke at the main gate, once again speaking to the souls on the main speaker phone, checking off the list of those they entered and left one after the other, keeping a tight and busy schedule in ensuring that souls are delivered and sent to their respected places on time in order to keep the ever fluctuations of souls who have passed on moving. Callion had to watch all of this play out before him, that by the time the line stopped with the Saiyan monk, the ogre that was in charge of the records looked at him with an attempted look of a calm and rational face that he posed before. “Hmm… Name?” The ogre asked to which the only physical body in line that was standing infront of the main Estate door replied; “Callion. Saiyan.” The ogre slowly began to gulp, sweat beads appeared on his face with several nods, looking at the ogres above with the thumbs up. “O-Ok guys! He’s here, open the door and let him in!!” The ogre shouted on the speaker phone, as in the instant, the doors that lead inside slowly opened, revealing the interior of the Estate which was in fact King Yemma’s main seat of office.
Speaking of King Yemma himself, Callion’s eyes widened at the sight of such an Ogre: An absolute colossal figure of towering size, and the table alone was at least three times taller than the Saiyan himself. It was rather incredible to say the least to just how the Celestial Entity that was in charge of the other ogres ruled over the dominion. The man in a full get up purple suit with two wide horns sticking out from either head, with a mighty beard that can be both admired and respected by any man who aspired to grow such a find gruff of hair. The Saiyan had to take a moment to drink the entire situation in before his eyes, whilst the ogre that stood by the front gate accompanied him inside and addressed him before King Yemma. “My lord, may I present to you, at last, the Saiyan warrior from Earth. The one addressed with the name of Callion.” The ogre presented before the giant, hulking individual who slowly raised his head from being confined to the amount of paperwork that he was signing from the vast amount of souls that passed by his office every single day before smiling widely at the sight of the Saiyan Monk, a smile as though he hadn’t seen such a good friend in many years, but right now at this very moment his mind was racing back to the first time he came across such a good hearted Saiyan soul; the one called Goku rushed into his mind. The laughter that emerged from the jaws of King Yemma afterwards shook the entire Castle like estate, with Callion just barely managing to hold onto his feet, while the other ogres that were within the very room collapsed onto their butts, blinking several times from just how much powerful of a laughter he had on him. Once he calmed down, the King Ogre slowly got up onto his feet and only had to take several steps forward from his massive desk and got down onto his knee and offered his giant hand for Callion to shake.
“Well, I got to say It’s nice to finally meet you in person Callion! I can’t tell you just how long it’s been since I’ve met such an honourable and good hearted Saiyan like you son.” King Yemma greeted Callion with toothy grin, this took the Saiyan Monk by surprise, as he wasn’t expecting such a hospital welcome, deciding to bow before the Otherworld King in respect before accepting his massive hand in a friendly handshake. “Oh! Erm, the pleasure is all mine, your majesty.” Callion replied with manners in respect to the supposed Monarch ruler of the Ogres, one in which Yemma already seemed to have taken a liking to this saying. “HAH! A Saiyan with actual respect and Manners! Now this boy I like! I got to say son, we’ve all been watching your progress on Earth and it’s incredible just how much you have managed to make such a big progress over the past month alone in this part of the world.” The King replied, slowly getting back up onto his feet before getting back to sitting down properly onto his seat. The Saiyan was rather confused about this situation and decided to ask more questions in regards to what Yemma meant.
Callion spoke once more in a polite manner, slowly levitating up towards Yemma’s desk, one in which the Ogre looked down to the Saiyan. “Wait, you were watching me? All of you?” Callion asked the King before he saw the massive entity giving several nods, along with the other ogres in the room doing the same. “Indeed, you’ve been making quite the headline up here in Otherworld ever since you were taken in as a student of Master Roshi. We saw how you have become stronger, having learnt the Kamehameha, and even to have forged friendship along the way.” King Yemma replied, moving his wheeled chair to the side showing the large screen behind him that showed the life he had lived on the planet. From meeting Ayu, taking up training with Plasma, Zerori, Liari, and Quash, to even having a team up with Tabu against the Illegal fighting ring. The clips also included the moment where he fought with his last breath against the very much powered up Majin in West City. “Ah, so you also watched that fight as well huh?” Callion asked with a little bit of remorse, hard to believe that he had died on that day, rubbing the back of his head, thinking to himself that he didn’t even remotely put up a challenge at all. “Indeed so. Everyone in Otherworld saw your brave battle against Majin Liari and the cunning mastermind Zero in West City. Truly sorry for what happened to you, after getting there in the wrong place at the wrong time my boy.”
The Saiyan took solace in that remark, sighing a little bit before continuing. “So, I’ve been hearing that this is the place where all the souls are to be judged into going to either Heaven or Hell, and whilst I’ll leave the theology part to the side. I don’t suppose you know where I am going to be destined to live for the rest of my days?” Callion asked, with a mixture of curiosity but also a willingness to accept whatever fate the King had in store for him. Yemma on his part saw the look on the Saiyan, so prepared to face the eternity that was ahead of him before smiling and placed his pen down before shaking his head. “There is nothing wrong in what fate has planned for you Saiyan. For you see, your fate has a different plan in store for you.” Yemma answered, catching Callion completely by surprised now even further confused and off tract to what he meant by such an answer; “A different fate? What could possibly be a different fate than whether I am supposed to go to Heaven or Hell for what life I have lived on Earth.” The Saiyan asked, looking over at the screen behind King Yemma that was replaying the entire life story Callion had lived through before Yemma turned around and stopped at the section in his life story when training with Master Roshi. “Tell me Callion; have you ever heard of a being called King Kai?” King Yemma asked Callion, curious as to what kind of answer the Saiyan would have, though by the facial look that he was demonstrating and the tilt of his head, he had zero idea as to who this King Kai even was, let alone exactly where he is. “No, your majesty. I have no idea who he is.” Callion simply answered, folding his arms as his uniquely long tail flowed freely, “Should I be informed as to who this man is? Is he of some vital importance?”
King Yemma gave a nod several times, lifting up his book. “Well, you see Callion. Naturally, from your bravery and honour against such powerful enemies, alongside your good deeds at helping people being pushed in the right direction actually managed to get King Kai’s attention, and that hasn’t happened in over two-hundred years. Mainly these days, he has been more focused on fulfilling his duties in watching over the North Quadrant of the Universe. Now since a Saiyan has caught his attention after being informed by Master Roshi, he has been following your exploits with great interest. Heck, when the moment you passed away, King Kai personally sent me a direct order stimulating that you are to meet him on his planet for immediate training to become his student. That’s a high honour alone as it is.” This was a news that intrigued Callion, having a request from what was essentially a ruler of quarter of the entire Universe demanding his arrival on his own personal planet to train him? Something that hasn’t happened since two hundred years ago? That is indeed an honour. “I’d be delighted… Though, where do I go from here now?”
King Yemma once again got up from his desk and motioned Callion to follow him, one that the Saiyan took to the air and followed closely behind, it was from the left side of King Yemma’s estate that revealed the legendary and gabled Snake Way, the only route that brave and noble souls travel in order to meet with King Kai himself. “Welcome to Snake Way Callion. This long, narrow, winding path is the only way you’ll be able to get to King Kai’s Planet that is on the end of the Snake. You got yourself a long road ahead of you, for this is a very far road, and some of the greatest warriors have tried and failed to getting to meet King Kai, all except those that flew to his planet, though a Saiyan that I knew back in the day actually managed to get there by foot, and that took him about one-hundred and seventy-seven days to finally have an audience and train with the fabled master himself. So, to put it into context; Snake Way is said to be a million kilometers long… Or six-hundred and twenty-five thousand miles to be precise.”
Callion had to blink several times before looking forward and back up to King Yemma, he gulped at the very first hurdle before him before figuratively facepalming; “Ah yes, of course it’s going to take this long. Then that means, I will really have to give it my all in getting to meet this, King Kai. Thank you for everything, your Majesty.” Callion thanked Yemma with a bow, a reaction that caused the Ogre King to bellow in a fit of laughter from the Saiyan’s politeness which was still remarkably strange considering the vast amount of Saiyan souls that he had to send to either Heaven and Hell. “Ohohohohoho! Don’t you worry about that. Really! It’s my pleasure!! Though there is one last thing that I want to mention to you before you go on this adventure, and I cannot stress this enough as to how important this is – whatever you do. DO NOT jump off the track, should you fall down below, even if you’re flying there is no return and you’ll be stuck in Hell forever… Of course, there was the one time someone managed to get out, but trust me, we sealed it up after that.”
Callion took the warning with one last nod, clenching his fists and began to power himself up ever since being dead, the aura flickered with life, which managed to cause the King Ogre himself to take several steps back and like a whirlwind flash, the Saiyan made a run for it, his legs thundering down Snake Way on his official trip to King Kai. Callion moved like a bolt of lightning; recognising the time required to commence with the training, ontop of making sure he didn’t waste an opportunity of getting distracted, not even stopping for something to eat, and the question on whether or not spirits can eat was not only still for debate but also a time to not squandering the moment, life were at stake – Ayu, Quash, Plasma, Zerori, Tabu, goodness knows how many others were going to be in harms way if he stopped now, and that’s the problem, he couldn’t stop.
Not now, not ever.
The speed of the Saiyan who was engulfed in his fiery aura was maddening, the yellow clouds spreading out as he furiously charged and followed the path like a stampeding dinosaur, a speed of up to 20,830 kilometers per hour (13,018 miles per hour) with the attempted goal to reach King Kai’s Planet in about two days tops – putting his power and everything he had to running as fast as he possibly could, and whilst there was the possibility to having flied there, he knew from his heart of hearts that it was no way to truly earn the Kai’s favour, nor even ensure that he had what it took to get there even if he flew. It was the principle of the matter, the determination with such a current low power level to push onward and remained focused. Yet that was all Callion could see – an endless snake tail and a vastness of yellow clouds as far as the eye could see, it was rather charming in its own way and honestly pretty peaceful by the sheer scope of the area. Perhaps when this is all over and maybe a time where he will be able to travel to otherworld without having died, he may visit the place now and again to relax and meditate on the life choices that brought him here. Alas, training first and all manner of meditating was to come much, much later.
The hours rolled by, at least in the relative terms in the timezone of Earth, for within Otherworld, time itself was rather convoluted to put it politely, there was honestly no way to distinguished how long it had been since Callion began his lightning journey towards the tail end of the snake. And while, even he had a moment of weakness of curiosity, especially arriving at an unusual looking house with a certain woman by the name of Princess Snake, who fluttered her eyes lashes at the Saiyan, and admittedly she looked pretty fine, there was the unspoken rule with Saiyan to not get distracted by lustful desires, no matter how delicious the members of the opposite sex looked. So it was with a brave heart, and stoic fortitude that Callion travelled onward past the fabled Princess Snake Castle and continued his journey towards the end of the road… However, there was always the possibility, once he learnt of a certain move to travel from Earth to Otherworld that he may just pop for a visit… Regardless! Priorities were paramount, and none of the most beautiful women within the universe was going to stop him, no matter how hard they tried!
It was now two full days had past, and by a sheer miracle of it all, having managed to scour through the very beginning of Snake way that Callion had finally arrived at the end of road, and as he looked up – he saw the planet. Admittedly in his eyes, he had expected the planet to be a lot larger than he envisioned at the back of his head – still, as long it was right there before his eyes, he could not care less. It was the fact that King Kai was on this planet as per the very words that King Yemma had spoken that lead to Callion’s resolve in getting this face and now the next step should be simple enough: Getting up to the planet itself. He decided to lower his body into a firm squatting position and with the power of his legs and energy he bolted up into the air, making his way directly onto the planet, and while it was certainly effective in getting the Saiyan onto the planet, it worked a little TOO well, in regards that the next step that he came crashing down onto the planet like a meteor, unaware of the planet having ten times the Earth’s gravity.
The moment Callion came crashing down onto the small planet, it got the awareness of three familiar individuals that just so happened to be living on that mentioned world, one that that was a levitating cricket sprite by the name of Gregory, a monkey pet by the name of Bubbles, and of course, the fabled Guardian of the North Galaxy; King Kai himself. The trio had to make a run towards the crash site and were surprised to see such a Saiyan sized hole on the planet. “Whoah! What the heck was that!?” Gergory asked in astoundment whilst bubbled was bouncing around with the traditional monkey like pose in confusion, and as for King Kai he walked over to the hole and smiled after realising just who it was that managed to arrive on his planet. “Heheheheh. Ah, don’t worry about it guys, It’s the Saiyan that I told you two about. Honestly, I expected him to get here a lot latter, but looks like he went overboard in getting to my planet.” The Kai replied, witnessing the Saiyan slowly crawl out of the hole with a moan and groan in pain and a dizzy state.
“Uuugh… What happened?” Callion asked, slowly laying down on the grassy floor on his back, now having looked up to have met Gregory, Bubbles and King Kai for the first time. “Let’s just say you came in like a wrecking ball and left a mark on my planet champ.” King Kai laughed at his joke, pointing to the crash site, the Saiyan letting out a sigh. “Oh… Heh… That so huh, guess I’m a Rock Star now? Sorry about that. Mind if I crash here?” Callion made the dangerous and powerful art of the double pun attack, which King Kai was caught completely off-guard by surprise resulting in him exploding in a raging giggling fit. “BWHAHAHAHAHAHAH! ROCK STAR!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAH! MIND IF I CRASH HERE!? BWHAHAHAHAH! OH, THAT’S A GOOD ONE! OH, I AM DEFINITELY GOING TO TRAIN YOU, MY BOY! HAHAHAHAHAH!” King Kai tried to make out a sentence whilst he couldn’t control the sheer laughter and breathing, rolling around the floor in having failed to keep his composure, with Gregory and Bubbles looking at him with worried at just how much he was laughing, not realising the sheer power and tenacity that was the dreaded Dad Puns.
Callion very slowly rotated his body so that his stomach was now facing the grass, and he had to very much forcefully push himself up from the ground. “Geez? Was it something I said? Why is this planet so heavy on me all of a sudden?” He asked, straining in just about getting himself up onto his feet, sweating in the process. “Oh, that’s easy. Here, on King Kai’s planet, it’s ten times Earth’s normal gravity, so it makes everything a lot more challenging for new arrivals… Except for the fact that we haven’t seen anyone new to come to this planet in over two-hundred years, especially a Saiyan. So, it’s no wonder King Kai was thrilled about wanting to train you. Also, there is the fact that he absolutely adores jokes and puns, and apparently yours is enough to make him nearly burst a lung with how much he is laughing. But don’t worry, you’ll get used to it here Callion.” The cricket spirit replied with the Saiyan looking at him with a surprised look on his face, questioning as to how he was even capable in being able to train on this planet and get stronger, unaware of just how resolute Saiyans were in adapting to the environment and the gravity the planets provide.
King Kai slowly arose from rolling on the floor laughing his butt off and sighed. “Phew! That was a good laugh. But on a serious note, Callion, I’m really sorry for what happened to you. I’ve seen it play out before my eyes, and you fought honourably despite the losing cause of the situation. I commend you for your effort, and on top of that, Master Roshi put in quite the good reports about you when I talked to him through telepathy. Turns out, you’re an outstanding student Callion, and your action have affected those around you.” King Kai replied, placing his hands on his back, walking up to the Saiyan with a serious nod, “Which is why I have not only decided to take you under my wing, but I will also be teaching you some of my most signature techniques. You will begin your training with me on this planet learning the art of the Kaio-Ken; a technique that is capable of increasing your power and speed and enabling them to inflict serious damage to opponents who are considerably stronger than you. However, the downside of the Kaio-ken is that it takes a heavy toll on your body, making them more vulnerable to enemy attacks. Which is also the reason why I want you to get stronger throughout your time here in Otherworld.”
King Kai spoke before showing a V for Victory pose with his fingers.
“So! Let’s get started with your training. Who knows! If you get a lot stronger, I may have to teach you one of my most powerful techniques!”
